Frequently Asked Questions

Rental Information

What is the length of the rental period?

The textbook rental period for summer 2012 ends Friday August 3, 2012. All books must be postmarked by this date. If not, you may be charged the remaining balance of the book at the new list price.

What if I want to buy my textbook after I’ve already rented it?

So you rented your textbook but found out it was pretty useful after all. If you want, you can keep it! Hold on to the book, and once your due date arrives, you’ll simply be charged the difference between your rental fees and the retail price of a new book. Once you own it, you can always sell it back to Neebo.

I’m a pretty busy student. What happens if I return my book a few days late?

If students aren’t wrapping up one semester, they’re getting ready for the next. We are busy trying to get everyone the books they need, so if you’re book isn’t returned on time, we assume you have decided to keep it. Having due dates helps us estimate our inventory and supply & demand needs. If you would like to sell it back to us, however, that’s not a problem!

What happens if I drop a class?

Rental refunds will be allowed during the normal store refund period. Of course, the regular refund rules will still apply: the book needs to be in the same condition as it was when it was rented and you'll need a copy of your receipt.

Why do rental prices for books change?

Prices are generated dynamically and reflect market conditions for each book. Your price is not final until you complete the checkout procedure and pay for your book. In-store and online rental prices may also vary based on local market demands.

I didn’t receive a rental confirmation email.

Quite often the returned rental receipts do not get through to the students listed on an EDU email address. The schools sometimes have filters in place to stop this type of delivery. We suggest that you add another email address to your Neebo profile, or local bookstore profile, to ensure delivery of rental receipts. You also should check your junk and spam filter, it may have slipped in there.

The book I need is not available for rent. Why not?

From time to time, it may cost as much to buy a book as it does to rent it. When that happens, we try to offer both a used and a new price for the book.
