What happens if my book is lost or damaged?
Maybe you left your book in the cafeteria. Maybe someone snatched it up. Heck, maybe it was used to kindle that epic bonfire last weekend. We understand—things happen, but rented books that are lost, stolen or damaged during your rental period are your responsibility. That means you may be subjected to necessary penalty fees at the end of the rental period. If we can’t use the book again, you’ll be charged the difference between the retail cost of a new Rental, less the rental fee you already paid, plus any applicable sales taxes. Please don’t do these things to our books:
If I return the book early, will I get some money back?
We don’t provide any money back if you return your book early. But, returning your book early means you’ll avoid any chance of being charged the full amount. Oh yeah, it also makes us really, really happy.
Can I send my roommate’s rental books back with mine?
That’s a no-go. Roommates are great and all, and yes, you probably love doing most things together, but this is one time we’d prefer you didn’t. For rental returns, we need to have your books shipped back separately so that we can track the returns back to the right account. That’s why we also ask you to include your order ID and packing slip with your package.
